Apple’s operations in India are poised to create a substantial number of jobs, with projections suggesting that the company’s ecosystem will generate up to 600,000 positions by the end of the current fiscal year. This anticipated growth highlights Apple’s strategic push to expand its presence in India and reduce its reliance on production in China. According to data from Apple and its suppliers shared with the government, the Indian workforce for Apple is expected to include 200,000 direct jobs by March, with an impressive 70% of these roles occupied by women. The government estimates that the electronics sector creates three indirect jobs for every direct job. Based on this ratio, Apple’s ecosystem could potentially result in between 500,000 and 600,000 total jobs by the end of March. Government officials reported to ET that Apple’s three contract manufacturers in India—Foxconn, Wistron (now Tata Electronics), and Pegatron—have already created 80,872 direct jobs. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated on Tuesday that the India-Japan partnership is part of a broader effort to maintain a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific. He emphasized that the relationship will continue to strengthen, especially as China intensifies its military activities in the region. The latest “2+2” dialogue took place in Delhi, with the Japanese delegation led by Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and Defence Minister Kihara Minoru. The Indian team was headed by Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Over the past ten years, our cooperation has evolved into a unique, worldwide strategic alliance. In his broadcast introductory remarks, Mr. Jaishankar stated, “Our growing activities and expanding interests are the logic of this evolution. He said, “In a world that’s becoming more unpredictable, we need reliable partners with whom we share common goals.” He continued, “Therefore, we have actively worked to support each other’s efforts, understand each other’s objectives, bolster each other’s positions, and collaborate with other like-minded nations.” The Minister of External Affairs stated that “we embrace mutuality and display sensitivity” to ensure the growth of Japan-India strategic cooperation. “The Indo-Pacific region is currently free, open, and governed by norms, which sets the bigger context for our collaboration. This is a logical extension of our Act East agenda for India,” he stated. Mr. Jaishankar emphasized that the “2+2” conversation needs to pay special attention to the next steps. He noted, “It has been two years since our last meeting in Tokyo, and many significant global developments have occurred. Google ai search expands to india
On Thursday, Google Search said that, more than two months after the US launch of the feature, AI Overviews would be made available in six more countries, including India. The function, which debuted in the US in May of this year, provides users with a search bar preview of a topic or query based on a range of sources, including web sources. Google Search in the UK, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil will get the feature. Additionally, Google noted that local language support will be available for each country’s experience. “In India, we’re adding AI Overviews in English and Hindi, along with popular features from our Search Labs experiment.
